Some new work

I’ve been exploring the way the materials behave and thought I’d share with you my latest results.

This is a wax Monotype on textured paper with ink. Here is a detail from the piece:

The second piece uses the same technique but with slightly different results.

And here is the detail:

Weekend Workshop at Inkmasters

September 10, 2017

antheaboesenberg

The workshop was so busy I didn’t have time to take any photos! The students were very prolific and some wonderful work was produced.

I will in due course post some photos from others, but  for now, let me show you some work I’ve done myself at the residency. It’s work in progress.

FNQ

Here in FNQ for a residency with Inkmasters and the Tanks. I will pursue my own work, teach a workshop in monotype, do a demonstration in Encaustic for Printmakers and a short workshop for year 10’s at a local college.

Here in Cairns, nature is rampant! I get to go to the Botanical Gardens each day, and walk the boardwalk to the studio. Such a joy!

This will be a wonderful exhibition, and I am lucky enough to have been invited to send work from my ‘Text’ series of monotypes. Unfortunately I can’t get there this time. If you are near Haacht, Belgium, please go along.

Further explorations with paper…..

I’m really enjoying the contemplative process of making these works. This one combines burnt paper with a print taken in ink from that paper, and some coloured pencil. However, soon I’ll be seeing holes in my sleep!

I’m also working with the heavily rusted, torn and stitched paper I made last year,  forming large pieces into smaller draped and folded forms. Why stick to two dimensions when three is so interesting?

They reminded me of red earth cliffs one might see as one approaches land from the sea, so I’ve called them Landfall 1 and 2. These pieces will be exhibited at Artsite Gallery in March this year.
